December 1, 2008, COPIA FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY

Like I predicted in my article of November 28, 2008, “Copia: Confusion & Dreaming,” late today (Dec. 1), about 4 pm Calif. time, COPIA announced that it was filing for bankruptcy.

I'll have more possibly Tuesday.

John Olney is a free lance writer located in Wine Country - Napa, CA. He arrived in Napa back in 1985 having come from living in Hawaii for 17 years

During the 2007-2010 timeframe he sat on the Nominating Committee and voting Electoral College for the California Vintners Hall of Fame sponsored and housed at the Culinary Institute of America(CIA) located in the historic Greystone building complex in St. Helena

He is currently in the final stages of production for his booklet, "History of and Guide to the Winegrowing Industry of Nevada County"

He is processing completed interviews (21) with top Napa Wine business leaders to be included in his book titled "The Essence of the Modern Napa Valley Wine Industry - The Innovators and Pacesetters " 27 such individuals will be included in the book. Each of the interviews lasted between 1.5 to 4 hours. All those interviewed answered the same five questions, thus providing a very interesting review of winemaking from the 1970s to 2000.

During the period 1986-1990, he designed, produced and marketed two separate wine label poster -maps featuring Napa Valley wineries.
